St. Petersburg Engagement Session at the St. Pete Pier | Michael + Madison

There are some sessions where the weather has you questioning your decision to leave the house—and then somehow, everything works out even better than you could have imagined. Michael and Maddie’s St. Pete engagement session was exactly that.

We started their session at North Straub Park, with the skies looking a little questionable. There were plenty of clouds rolling in, and for a minute, it really looked like we might end up getting caught in the rain. But instead of letting the weather worry us, we kept going—and I am so glad we did.

From North Straub Park, we made our way around the waterfront and stopped at the Museum of Fine Arts for some portraits outside. I love incorporating different locations throughout an engagement session because it gives the gallery so much variety while still keeping the experience relaxed and natural. Between the beautiful architecture, greenery, and waterfront views, St. Pete gives us no shortage of gorgeous backdrops.

And then came the best part.

What looked like an impending rainstorm gave way to the most beautiful sunshine. The clouds opened up just enough, and we ended up with that warm, dreamy evening light that photographers are always hoping for. By the time we reached the St. Pete Pier, the sky was glowing, and we were treated to an absolutely gorgeous sunset.
