Fort De Soto Engagement Session in St. Petersburg, Florida | Isaac + Brittney

Some engagement sessions are sweet and romantic, and others end with you completely soaked in the Gulf of Mexico. Isaac and Brittney’s Fort De Soto engagement session gave us both—and I absolutely loved it.

We met at Fort De Soto in Florida for an evening that perfectly captured their fun, laid-back connection. With its palm-lined roads, natural Florida scenery, rocky shoreline, and gorgeous Gulf views, Fort De Soto gave us so much variety throughout their session.

Starting Among the Palms

We started the evening away from the beach, taking advantage of one of my favorite parts of Fort De Soto—the rows of beautiful palm trees.

Isaac and Brittney kept their first look casual and relaxed, with Brittney in a simple white dress and Isaac in jeans and a muted green shirt. It was the perfect combination for the tropical Florida setting.

We spent this part of their session walking, talking, laughing, and letting them simply enjoy being together. I always love incorporating movement into engagement photos because it helps everything feel less like posing for a camera and more like spending an evening together—which is exactly what an engagement session should be.

An Outfit Change + Golden Hour on the Beach

For the second half of the session, we headed toward the water and completely changed the feel of their photos.

Brittney changed into the most gorgeous flowing deep red dress, while Isaac kept things relaxed in a neutral shirt and jeans. Against the soft colors of the beach and sunset, her dress was absolutely stunning.

We explored the rocks along the shoreline as the sun began to set, creating some of my favorite romantic portraits from their session. The warm golden light, Gulf in the background, and movement of Brittney’s dress made everything feel a little more dramatic while still keeping their photos natural and true to them.

And Then…We Got in the Water

When you're already at the beach, sometimes you just have to go for it.

Isaac and Brittney were completely game to finish their engagement session in the Gulf, and I'm so glad they were! They walked straight into the water—clothes and all—and we created some seriously beautiful photos as the last of the sunset filled the sky.

Between the waves crashing around them, Brittney's dress floating through the water, kisses, laughter, and the two of them splashing their way back toward shore, these photos ended their session on the perfect note.

These are the kinds of moments I love photographing most. They're a little messy, completely unscripted, and full of personality. Give me a couple willing to have fun and trust the process, and I'm always going to encourage leaning into moments like these.

Fort De Soto Engagement Photography

Fort De Soto is such a beautiful option for engagement photos in the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg area because we can create so many different looks without having to travel between multiple locations. From palm trees and greenery to the rocky coastline, sandy beaches, Gulf water, and Florida sunsets, there are endless opportunities to make a session feel unique.

More than anything, though, Isaac and Brittney made this session so much fun to photograph. Their connection, willingness to play along with my ideas, and genuine affection for each other came through beautifully in their photos.

Isaac and Brittney, I loved documenting this chapter for you two, and after an engagement session this much fun, I am even more excited to photograph your wedding in 2027! I cannot wait to celebrate with you both and capture everything that's still to come. ♡
