Sand Key Beach Engagement Session in Clearwater, Florida | Eric + Rachel

There is something about a beach engagement session that just feels effortless—and Eric and Rachel’s evening at Sand Key Beach in Clearwater, Florida, was the perfect example of that.

On April 16, 2026, I met Eric and Rachel at Sand Key Beach for an engagement session filled with soft sand, coastal grasses, warm sunshine, and plenty of genuine moments between the two of them. From the very beginning, their session felt relaxed and natural, which is exactly what I love about photographing couples.

A Little Bit of Florida Coastal Beauty

We started among the dunes and sea oats, taking advantage of the beautiful natural scenery that makes Sand Key such a great location for engagement photos. Eric and Rachel looked right at home against the sandy landscape, with the warm evening sun filtering through the trees and grasses around them.

Rachel wore a beautiful, simple white dress that looked absolutely perfect against the beach, while Eric complemented her in a light blue button-down and neutral pants. Their outfits kept the entire session feeling light, timeless, and very Florida.

And then there were the moments in between the portraits—the little smiles, kisses, holding hands, and the way they naturally gravitated toward one another. Those are always some of my favorite images from a session.

From the Dunes to the Shore

As the evening went on, we made our way down to the water. The light was gorgeous, creating that soft golden glow across the beach and ocean. We let them walk, laugh, dance a little, and simply enjoy being together.

I especially love the photos of Eric and Rachel walking hand-in-hand along the shoreline. There is something so simple about those images, but they capture exactly what an engagement session should feel like: two people enjoying this season of life together.

Once we got closer to the water, Eric wrapped his arms around Rachel, and we captured some of the sweetest, most playful moments of the evening. There was plenty of laughter mixed in with the romantic portraits, which made their gallery feel like a genuine reflection of their relationship rather than a collection of perfectly posed photographs.

A Beautiful Evening at Sand Key Beach

Sand Key Beach is one of my favorite places around Clearwater for couples who want their engagement photos to have that classic Florida beach feel without everything feeling overly formal. The combination of the dunes, sea oats, open shoreline, and Gulf water gives us so much variety in one location.

For Eric and Rachel, we were able to capture a little bit of everything—from more editorial portraits in the dunes to intimate close-ups and fun, candid moments along the water.

Most importantly, though, their session felt like them.

That's always my goal when photographing engagement sessions. I'll give you some direction when you need it, but I also want plenty of space for you to interact naturally, laugh together, and forget that there's a camera nearby. Those in-between moments often end up becoming the images you love the most.

Eric and Rachel, thank you for letting me spend this beautiful evening with you. Your Sand Key Beach engagement session was such a joy to photograph, and I absolutely loved the combination of warm sunshine, gorgeous coastal scenery, and all of the love and laughter you brought with you.
